As I backpacked around much of Italy, I visited this quiet village in the mountains of Liguria where only a handful of its buildings had seen any use in recent decades. Somehow these things mean something to me, but I can't explain what or why. I think it may have to do with the way they were so well built, long inhabited and cared for, and since have fallen from that into the ruins they are now, lost to a misguided time when fast and cheap is the rule.
