This was a life size portrait in marble on display at the Louvre in Paris, of Sophie Arnould, a famous french singer in the 18th century, sculpted by Jean-Antione Houdon. It is a remarkable sculpture for its elegance and subtleties, and was a great painting exercise for those same reasons.
Oil on canvas, 16" x 20".
